Weddings in Fife: Country Houses & the East Neuk Coast

A table prepared for a wedding celebration in Fife, Scotland

The Italian Banquet Company caters weddings and celebrations across Fife — from the grand country houses inland to the fishing villages strung along the East Neuk coast. It is one of our favourite corners of Scotland to cook in, because Fife gives a couple two very different kinds of wedding within half an hour of each other: the stone-and-lawn romance of a country estate, or the salt-air, harbour-light charm of the coast. Both suit the way we cook, and both bring out something a little different in a menu.

Country-House Weddings

Inland Fife is country-house country — walled gardens, long drives, barns and halls built for gathering, the kind of places couples take for a whole weekend so the celebration never has to stop at the end of the night. These venues want a wedding with room to breathe: a drinks-and-antipasti welcome out on the lawn while the light is still good, then a proper sit-down dinner as the evening draws in. We bring the kitchen to the house and cook the whole thing on site, so that a self-catering estate becomes, for one day, a restaurant built entirely around you.

The East Neuk Coast

Then there's the coast. The East Neuk — the cluster of old fishing villages where the harbours still work and the light comes off the water — is one of the most romantic settings in Scotland for a smaller, relaxed wedding. It's a part of the country that practically asks for seafood, and there are few things we'd rather cook than the day's catch from cold North Sea water, simply treated, folded through pasta we rolled that morning. A coastal Fife wedding has an unfussy, windblown beauty to it, and the food should feel the same: generous, seasonal, of the place.

One Kitchen, Either Setting

Whether it's a candlelit dinner in a country house or a long table near the harbour, the way we work doesn't change. A full brigade arrives, learns the room, and cooks a complete menu on site — hand-made pasta and the best of the Fife and east-coast larder — built around the couple and the setting they fell for. Fife rewards that kind of cooking, because so much of what makes the Kingdom special is already on the doorstep.

From the country houses to the East Neuk coast, it's a part of Scotland that makes our job easy: beautiful places, a generous larder, and couples who want the food to be as memorable as the view.
